Carah Gilmore is a surface designer and illustrator based in North Carolina. Her love for design began early, growing up doing arts and crafts with her mom, an interior designer, and spending summers in painting and sewing camps. With an early interest in fashion and costume design, Carah discovered that what she loved most was illustrating, capturing the character and personality behind clothing and pattern through her artwork.

While earning her BFA in Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design, Carah realized that surface design was the perfect blend of everything she enjoys. It offers a balance of structure and play, like solving a puzzle and has the satisfaction of creative problem-solving and storytelling within structured boundaries.

Alongside her illustration work, Carah continues to explore embroidery, sewing, and cross-stitching, eager to learn more about the craft of textile arts.
